It is a personal preference. As a goalie, I've done to me every three or four parts, as I prefer to skate really hard.
A trick someone told me that he was a white bic pens and on your resume. If cuts in the spring, the runners are sharpened.
I think you need to get the frequency to your skates feel through what you really sharpened base.
